For travel
Ask, understand, and keep moving.
A shared room gives you a familiar way to connect when words are the only barrier.
Before and during a trip, many of the most useful conversations are with someone who does not speak your language: a host, a guide, a school, a new friend. VoiceCallTranslator puts that conversation on a voice call where each of you speaks your own language and hears the other translated. They join from a link in their browser, with nothing to install.
Conversations it helps with
Talking through arrival, keys and the neighbourhood with a rental host or a host family before you land.
Planning a route or a day with a local guide, and hearing their suggestions properly instead of through a text translator.
Calling a language school, a dive centre or a small hotel that answers messages slowly but will happily take a call.
Staying in touch afterwards with the people you met, now that you have a way to talk.
How it works on the road
You are the host: sign up, create a room and send its link by WhatsApp, text message or email. The other person taps it, types their name and joins.
You choose the language you speak, and either choose theirs or let them pick it when they join. Each sentence is translated a moment after it is spoken and appears in the transcript in both languages, which helps when a street or a station is too loud to hear clearly.
Connections abroad drop. The call tries to reconnect on its own, a phone that dropped out can rejoin from the same link, and time is only counted while both of you are connected.
Good to know
Both of you need a data connection, but a voice call uses little data, so an ordinary mobile signal is usually enough. Noise matters more than signal: the translator hears the street as well as you, so step somewhere quieter if you can.
It is made for calls, not for translating a conversation face to face at a counter.
It is machine translation. For anything official, such as visas, medical care or legal matters, use the proper channel or a professional interpreter.
Common questions
Does the person I am calling need the app?
There is no app. They open the link in their phone's browser. They do not need an account and never pay.
What happens if the connection drops?
The call shows that it is reconnecting and tries again on its own. A phone that dropped out can rejoin from the same link, and time is only counted while both people are connected.
Which languages can I use?
The languages in the room's language menu. The current list is on the Languages page, and it grows as the translation service adds languages.
